Drumming

Today we did drumming in the library with Fraser. It was totally awesome and drumtastic!
When we first went in, Fraser began to play. He didn't talk at all. He just played. He played a drum that he moved up and down. It changed notes. He could even play Happy Birthday. He played the marimba. He played a harp. He played a rattle. He played plastic bottles with sticks. They all made different sounds and had different pitches. He played different kinds of drums.

Addition practice

Writing with Mrs Longville

WALT use interesting describing words (adjectives) and doing words (verbs) in our sentences. Here are some we wrote today:
On Wednesday an awesome, happy, excited teddy smiled at Room 2 who were sitting on the mat talking. Phoenix
On June 24th, a fuzzy, hairy, awesome teddy spied on Room 2 children wriggling. Anna
Today an awesome, fluffy, little teddy sat on Room 2's whiteboard watching Room 2 children sitting on the mat. Quinn
Today a happy, fuzzy teddy waved at Mrs Longville talking to Room 2. Chantel
How do you think we did?

From Fish to Fish and Chips

Earlier this week, we were thinking about where our fish for fish and chips come from. We used a sequence of pictures to help us work out the order for this process. Here are a few of the charts we made.
The Habit of Mind we are focusing on this week is: "Make it right. Strive for accuracy." Jesse has been doing very well remembering to use capital letters and fullstops in sentences. Well done, Jesse!

Tower Blaster

Here is a fun game to try. You need to put the blocks in the right order so the smaller numbers are at the top and the bigger numbers are at the bottom. Try to beat the Vikings to build your tower.

Storymaker

We discovered this cool story making tool when we were looking at the Motoroa blog. We actually meant to comment on their blog but got carried away with this instead.

Reflecting on our learning

Brrrrr! The mornings are so cold now. Even our computers and our internet connection have been feeling the cold. We have had some problems this week.
What have we been up to?
We've been thinking about our learning.
Next week we have our 3 way conferences and we need to talk to our family about how we are going, so we've been putting portfolios together.
It's a big job, but we're making good progress.
Today we thought about how we did when we wrote to explain what makes a fish a fish.
We had to wear our white hats to get the facts.... Did we get all those fishy facts in there? ... Did we write in sentences?
